The 2015 Ford Mondeo will be available with three 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engines, including low- and high-output versions of an EcoBoost petrol motor and a single tune of a TDCi diesel.

All-new Mondeo petrol engine options will include the 1.5-litre EcoBoost and 2.0-litre EcoBoost alongside Ford’s fuel-efficient and surprisingly powerful 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which was recently named International Engine of the Year for an unprecedented third time in a row.

The all-new Mondeo also will offer an optional high-powered 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine featuring twin sequential-turbocharging and delivering 210 PS and 450 Nm of torque. An ECOnetic Technology model will be available, powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine with class-leading diesel CO2 emissions of 94 g/km and 2.0-litre TDCi diesel models with 150 PS or 180 PS.

Equipment includes the latest version of Ford’s Sync2 infotainment system, which has drastically reduced number of buttons on the dashboard. It has an 8.0-inch touch-screen as standard, and every version will have DAB digital radio and Bluetooth, while top-level models will also get satellite-navigation.

Ford says pricing details will be announced closer to the car’s local launch, though it’s expected to largely mirror the positioning of the outgoing model, which costs between $31,490 and $48,490.

Launched in Munich, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz V-class will be sold in Europe from this spring, and it’s possible that it will eventually be offered in the U.S., too. Under the hood, the V-Class will offer a 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine in three output levels: the V200 CDI with 136PS (134hp) and 330Nm; the V220 CDI with 163PS (161hp) and 380Nm; and the V250 BlueTEC with 190PS (187hp) and 440Nm. The last two versions return an average fuel economy of 5.7l/100km (41.3mpg US / 49.6mpg UK) and 6.0l/100km (39.2mpg US / 47.1mpg UK) respectively.
