The redesigned 2015 BMW X6 shares a platform and much else with the latest X5, a relationship that is evident in the two ‘ute’s shared headlights, twin-kidney grille and hood. The X6 establishes itself as the style-oriented sibling with a dramatic, sleeker taillights, space-robbing roofline and a host of other unique touches, including upswept character lines over the rear wheels.
Other changes include the addition of the front-intake Air Curtains and front-fender Air Breathers already seen on other BMW models. They improve the X6′s aerodynamic efficiency while adding a little visual flair. However, the standout feature is still that roof, which looks like it’s endured an impact with a falling piano.
Under the skin, the X6 once again shares its chassis and powertrain options with the X5. The entry-level model is the sDrive35i, which is a rear-driver a first for the X6 powered by a 300-hp, 300-lb-ft, single-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. This engine also is available with xDrive all-wheel drive.
The oligarch’s choice is for now the X6 xDrive50i, with its 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V-8 good for 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft. BMW claims the six-cylinder models will hit 60 mph in 6.0 seconds, with the V-8 said to do the deed in 4.8…
The car’s three-door variant – Cooper Paceman, will feature some new design details for 2015, a sportier interior finish, and minor revisions to its powertrains and has been shown in its new form for the first time at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.
Just like the five-door Countryman, the 2015 Paceman doesn’t come with a whole lot of noticeable changes, unless you count the three new color options Mini Mini is offering with the new Paceman. The good news is that same Jungle Green shade we swooned over on the Countryman is also going to be available on the Paceman.
Power for the Cooper S is up from 135kW to 140kW, while torque from the 1.6 litre twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine remains at 240Nm. Fuel consumption in the Cooper S has improved from 6.6 to 6.0 l/100km, reflecting a general improvement in fuel economy across the model range.
The 2015 MINI Paceman is scheduled to go on sale in Germany next summer, meaning U.S. sales will likely begin shortly after. Pricing information will be available closer to the crossover’s on-sale date…
2015 Honda HR-V
Honda announced the launch of its upcoming 2015 HR-V subcompact crossover at 2014 New York Auto Show. The HR-V is based on the 2015 Honda Fit, and shares many of the same unique features that we’ve come to love in the Fit.
Overseas a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder as well as hybrid model are available, using Honda’s new 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Honda recently unveiled a new lineup of turbocharged VTEC engines, with a 1.5-liter version likely to be at least one of the engine options for the HR-V in North America.
The HR-V is expected to go on sale at the end of 2014, though Honda has not released extensive details about this new entry into the crossover segment. The HR-V will be aimed at the Nissan Juke and the Chevrolet Trax, with the latter going on sale around the same time.
2015 Volkswagen Touareg
The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg will be making its debut in the Chinese market this summer, and VW has unveiled a refreshed version of the Touareg at the 2014 Beijing auto show with new front and rear styling and some new technology inside. This updated version of the Volkswagen Touareg will come to the U.S. later this year.
For the powertrain, the previous model is completed with V6 engine 3.0 liter in order to generate 205 horsepower and also 400 Nm of torque. However, there are some gossips said that the car will get the similar engine option as Touareg TDI.
2015 VW Touareg will be supported with four-cylinder engine 3.0 liter in order to generate 245 horsepower. It seems it is not the end of the engine option, there is a big possibility if the car could come with bi-turbo V6 petrol engine 3.0 liter to produce 414 horsepower and the Touareg Hybrid.
For technology, the Touareg is getting a new suite of mobile online services which includes new destination search features that use Google maps, Google earth and Google street view. For safety tech, the Touareg packs a sourround view monitor that uses four cameras, lane assist control, adaptive cruise, dynamic light assist, city emergency brake and side assist warnings.
The company hasn’t stated yet when we could expect 2015 VW Touareg. According to leaked info, that should happen in fall this year. Prices are expected to stay near the current model’s starting $45.000. Diesel and Hybrid versions will be more expensive, and other one starts for 2014 year model at $64.000…
