The Audi RS5 2020 facelift will come in coupe and Sportback versions. In this version, Audi has slightly changed the exterior of the car as well as upgraded the new-generation MMI touch entertainment system. However, the RS5 still uses a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 450 horsepower.

The Audi RS5 sports sedan has three paint options: Black, Turbo Blue, and Tango Red. Wheels appear in 19 or 20-inch sizes with 2 color options: glossy black or bronze.

On the exterior of both versions, there is a wider and flatter single frame monocoque grille, inherited from the brothers RS6 and RS7. Meanwhile, the subtle layout of the air vents creates an interesting association back to an Audi Sport Quattro emblem of the 1980s.

In addition, the front wheel cavity design is expanded to about 40 mm, integrated with LED Matrix headlights with daytime running lights with black bezel, helping to make a difference compared to the standard Audi A5 version. Pentagonal cavity and front bumper are tweaked to make the look of RS 5 more powerful.

In terms of interior, the interior compartment on the next generation inherits quite a lot from the old model, except for a 10.1-inch MMI touch screen with fast response and slightly layout oriented towards the driver.

Audi offers a new optional Audi Virtual Cockpit screen size of 12.3 inches. Drivers can change a variety of interfaces, especially an RS interface for special driving modes. Meanwhile, the tape screen will appear with specific information such as maximum G-Force acceleration value.

Along with that, the information display system on the HUD windshield will also have similar graphics, helping the driver to know the vehicle’s gear level as well as the engine revs.

2

When equipped with advanced multimedia system MMI Navigation Plus, the screen of the car will appear more information necessary for operating at high speeds such as the magnitude of acceleration in the direction, the actual operation of sports differentials, pressure as well as tire temperature at each wheel.

The interior of the car includes standard RS sports seats in Alcantara or Nappa leather options, RS interior package with red or gray border details. Other decorative details such as steering wheel, gear lever or knee rests are also covered with Alcantara with contrasting red or gray thread.

As announced by the company, the next generation of the RS5 possesses a more impressive cornering ability by the option of sport differential for a rear-wheel axle, operating under the mechanism of active distribution of torque between the wheel. Besides, the above two RS1 and RS2 driving modes can be activated with the ‘RS MODE’ button on the steering wheel.

The starting price of Audi RS5 in the German market is about 92,500 USD for both versions. Audi has not yet announced the exact delivery time.

Purchasing power declines, the global car market in 2019 plummets

2019 is just over a month away, but experts predict this will be a forgettable year for the global automotive industry as purchasing power is on the decline, dragging car sales to the lowest level within 10 years back here.

The trade war between the US and China has gradually repelled the global economic growth momentum, thereby affecting directly on the automobile manufacturing and trading industry. Accordingly, based on data from the International Automobile Manufacturing Association (OICA), Fitch Ratings forecast that compared to last year, global car sales in 2019 are on the decline of about 3.1 million units. This will be the largest decline in the global automotive market since the global financial crisis took place in 2008.

According to analysts of Fitch Ratings, global car sales in 2019 will stop at 77.5 million vehicles, down about 4% compared to 2018. This is the second consecutive year of sales. Declining demand for cars in China and the United States – the two largest automobile markets in the world – is one of the reasons that pulled global car sales to the lowest level in the past 10 years. Sales report of the China Automobile Association (CPCA) shows that, in the first 10 months of 2019, car sales in this market decreased by 11% compared to the same period in 2018. This is partly due to the Chinese government’s cut back on incentives for electric cars.

In the US – the second-largest automobile market in the world, the situation is not very satisfactory as consumers increasingly hesitate to withdraw their pockets to buy new cars. Facing this situation, Fitch Ratings forecasts that car sales in the US will only reach about 16.9 million vehicles when 2019 closes, down about 2% compared to 2018.
