Scion has revealed a TRD-tuned special edition FR-S at 2014 New York Auto Show. The car is called the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 and it will be built in a limited run of just 1,500 examples.
All of that racing heritage is translated into vivid Yuzu yellow paint, a lowered stance, and some subtle body modifications including a quad-tip exhaust system. HID headlights with LED daytime running lights complete the package.
The Release Series is mechanically unchanged, so buyers still get a Subaru-derived 2.0-liter direct-injection boxer-four with 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
The FR-S Release Series 1.0 will arrive in dealerships starting in August of this year, nearly three years after the car was first introduced. The car’s MSRP was not specified (nor was the model year, for that matter) but Scion has suggested that the Release Series 1.0 will start just under $31 000…
