2015 Infiniti QX80

The brand’s flagship SUV, new car model – 2015 Infiniti QX80 (formerly the QX56) at 2014 New York Auto Show. The new QX80 also gains new styling cues from the Q50 sedan, and loses some of its whale-like styling in the process.

Changes for the QX80: new headlights and taillights and a restyled grille designed to fit the full-sizer in with the most recent Infiniti design language. Full LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights should provide a bit more illumination, while the mesh inserts on the “double-arch” grille remind us of the Q50. Still, this is a rather bulbous, inelegant piece of design in our eyes. Out back, the shape of the taillights has been tweaked, and they now sport LED illumination. The new rear bumper is larger, as well.

Three exterior paint colors have been added to the palette: Hermosa Blue, Graphite Shadow, and Majestic White. New 20-inch wheels are standard, though large 22-inch wheels are available through the tire and wheel package. Two interior color schemes are available, and the wood trim has been revised for more “visual differentiation,” which basically means it’s finished in a darker color, making it look higher in quality.

Under the massive hood lies a 5.6-liter V8 delivering 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft to all four corners through a seven-speed automatic, while safety tech such as automatic-dipping headlights and Predictive Front Collision Warning System aim to deliver all inside safely to the office.

The base price for 2015 Infiniti QX80 may be higher than the $63,695 for the outgoing model when the new SUVs arrive in U.S. showrooms this fall…
