The 2015 Infiniti Q70 sedan is getting an extensive refresh as a new long-wheelbase version dubbed the 2015 Infiniti Q70L. With a 5.9-inch longer wheelbase, the Q70L is almost as roomy as many full-size luxury sedans. The 2015 Infiniti Q70 debuts at the 2014 New York auto show.
Designed to appeal to the executive carriage trade, the L version adds 5.9 inches to the Q70’s wheelbase (from 114.2 to 120.1) and 7.3 inches to overall length (from 194.7 to 202). Height, width, and track are the same for both models. Infiniti’s design team has put most of the added length to work in the L’s rear seat, where legroom stretches by 5.6 inches (36.2 to 41.8) and knee room swells by 5.9 inches (26.6 to 32.5).
V-6 and V-8 gasoline engines also return. The range starts with a 330-horsepower, 270 lb-ft 3.7-liter V-6, and ends with a 420-hp, 417 lb-ft 5.6-liter V-8. Those figures are revised down to 416-hp and 414 lb-ft for the long-wheelbase model.
For those seeking higher fuel economy figures, a 302-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid model remains available. In its 2014 guise, the Q70 hybrid managed an EPA-rated 31 mpg combined (29 mpg city, 34 mpg highway). All models use a seven-speed automatic transmission and most offer the option of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Available safety features include Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention, and Cruise Control and Distance Control Assist as well as the Infiniti Safety Shield, which includes Predictive Forward Collision, Around View Monitor, Backup Collision Intervention, and Forward Emergency Braking systems…
